in an effort to feed dinner to my kids at a decent time (I commute a little over an hour to and from work), I've been experimenting with a crock pot.

I've made successful chicken dishes with it, and I wanted to try a pot roast. I didn't do anything special, just bought a seasoning packet and cut up a potato.



at 5:30 a.m., I started the crock pot on low, with a stop time of 3 p.m. (when my youngest son got home from school).

he sent me a text when he got home: when can i eat? it smells really good.

I was so proud and excited that the roast would be a hit, I asked him to send me a picture.



ACK!!! what the heck happened to my pot roast?! was 9.5 hours too long? did I disintegrate it? (un)holy cow!!

turns out my son decided he was going to cut -- or rather, shred -- the roast on a cutting board and then put everything back into the crock pot.

whew! my kid's fault, not mine..!

life is (g)ood

so, I was supposed to find a lightweight hiking backpack and instead I bought this cute lil thing by "Life is Good." meh. I needed (cough) a new weekend purse, anyway.

i love my Converse..!

i am addicted to my Converse Chucks. I would rather wear them with my skirts at work than heels (which I do, haha).

anyway, today I went to the Converse Outlet to replace a pair of worn out black Chucks, and I ended up with these in my bag, too.

the red hearts are glittery..! freakin' sooo cuuuute..!! I replaced the white laces with red; they make the red hearts really "pop."

i'm presently still growing out a pixie haircut, and it is taking forever!

in the meantime, i've been obsessed with these silver metal bow hairbands.
i love the durability of the metal, but Pure Beauty only had them in silver.

so, in a "lightbulb" moment, I took red nail polish and painted one of the two I bought. cuuuute..!! of course, this meant I had to buy Pure Beauty's remaining stock (6 total) to paint a black one, a pink one, and a purple one, too.

the two remaining silver ones will stay silver, I think. or at least one of them will.

like I really needed this mini-brush set by Arbonne... I already have MAC mini-brushes. but this was so cuuute..!!
